Perp DEX Fees, Compared

Base-tier perp trading costs across every perp DEX we cover or compare — twelve venues in one table. Each row's figures are restated from our per-venue fee pages — click the source link for the full schedule and the date it was verified against official documentation. One structural honesty note up front: these venues don't all charge the same way, and forcing GMX's pool-based model into a maker/taker column would produce a false comparison — so we don't. Funding is a separate, market-driven cost on every venue; see the funding guide and the live funding table.

Perp DEX fee comparison across venues
Venue Fee model Maker (base) Taker (base) Verified discount paths What the flat rate hides
Hyperliquid verified 2026-07-16 Order-book maker/taker; volume tiers; no gas per trade. 0.015% 0.045% HYPE staking cuts fees 5%–40% by amount staked; referral link adds a 4% discount on the first $25M volume. Open account at Hyperliquid (opens in a new tab)
Aster verified 2026-07-31 Order-book maker/taker; two perp contract families with different taker rates. 0% 0.04% (USDT-margined) / 0.005% (USD1-margined) Referral rebate up to 10% (referrer-configured split, not guaranteed); ASTER-token fee payment discount exists as a separate lever. 0% maker means maker-heavy flow pays nothing — and generates no referral commission. Open account at Aster (opens in a new tab)
dYdX verified 2026-07-30 Order-book maker/taker; 30-day-volume tiers set by governance. 0.01% 0.05% Tiers drop taker to 0.025% and turn maker into a rebate (−0.011%) at top volume; referred accounts start at fee tier 3; staked (bonded) DYDX cuts fees up to 50% on a governance-voted grid. Schedule is governance-set — thresholds and rates can change by vote. Open account at dYdX (opens in a new tab)
GMX verified 2026-07-16 Pool-based: position fee on open/close (imbalance-dependent) + borrowing fee while open + capped price impact. n/a (no maker/taker split) 0.04%–0.06% position fee, by pool imbalance Referral code gives a 5% discount on open/close position fees at tier 1. Borrowing accrues while the position is open — a holding cost the flat rates above don’t capture. Open account at GMX (opens in a new tab)
Lighter verified 2026-07-31 Order-book; zero-fee Standard accounts, paid Premium tier for higher limits. 0% (Standard) / 0.0040% (Premium) 0% (Standard) / 0.0280% (Premium) LIT staking reduces Premium rates on a published grid. Standard’s trade-off is latency (300ms taker) and API rate limits, not hidden fees or position caps; LIT is live (staking discounts the Premium grid) and the points program remains a separate, conversion-undocumented track. ApeX Omni verified 2026-07-22 Order-book maker/taker; 30-day volume tiers. 0.020% → 0% (by tier) 0.050% → 0.025% (by tier) Volume tiers take taker to 0.025% and maker to 0% at the top. Open account at ApeX Omni (opens in a new tab)
edgeX verified 2026-07-17 Order-book with daily 30-day volume tiers. Not published Not published Not published. The schedule being app-only means you cannot compare edgeX on price before signing up. We do not estimate it. Open account at edgeX (opens in a new tab)
Extended verified 2026-09-10 Order-book maker/taker with documented maker rebates. 0% 0.025% Maker rebates of 0.002%–0.013% for makers with ≥0.5% of 30-day maker volume; referred users get 10% off commissions on their first $50M. Open account at Extended (opens in a new tab)
Jupiter Perps verified 2026-07-22 Pool-based: flat open and close fees plus a borrow fee while the position is open. n/a (no maker/taker split) 0.06% open + 0.06% close, plus borrow None documented on the compared schedule. Borrow accrues while the position is open — a holding cost the two flat 0.06% legs do not capture. Open account at Jupiter Perps (opens in a new tab)
Ostium verified 2026-07-17 Per-event: open fee, oracle fee, rollover while open, close fee. n/a (no maker/taker split) Open + oracle + rollover + close None documented on the compared schedule. Rollover accrues while the position is open, so cost scales with holding time as well as size. Open account at Ostium (opens in a new tab)
Pacifica verified 2026-09-11 Order-book maker/taker; volume tiers. 0.015% → 0% (by tier) 0.040% → 0.028% (by tier) Eight 30-day-volume tiers take taker to 0.028% and maker to 0% (VIP 1 from $100M); a verified tier from another exchange can be carried over for 30 days; no token discount. Open account at Pacifica (opens in a new tab)
Paradex verified 2026-09-10 Zero-fee Retail orders (web app or interactive-token API); Pro orders (standard API) pay a flat maker fee and a 14-day-volume taker ladder. 0% (retail) / 0.003% (Pro) 0% (retail) / 0.045% → 0.035% (Pro, by 14-day volume) Pro taker: pay fees in DIME for a flat 40% off; stake DIME for a further tiered discount up to 30%; floor 0.0175%. The headline zero covers Retail-classified orders only; an account that exceeds Retail rate limits switches to Pro behaviour and the ladder applies. Open account at Paradex (opens in a new tab)

Referral links: Hyperliquid, Aster, dYdX, GMX, Lighter. Following one may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. The other 7 venues are plain links we earn nothing from — they are listed on the same terms as the rest. Neither affects the figures above or the order of this table. How we work.

Reading this honestly

Base-tier rates answer one narrow question: what a small taker order costs on day one. They don't decide which venue is cheapest for you — that depends on your maker/taker mix (Aster, Lighter, Extended and Paradex charge makers nothing at their base tier), your volume (dYdX, ApeX and Pacifica all improve with it, and dYdX eventually pays makers), how long you hold (GMX, Jupiter and Ostium all bill for time held, and funding accrues everywhere), and which discounts you activate. The page linked in each row carries the detail; the earning comparison covers the other side of the ledger — what each venue offers, not what it charges.

Two rows say “not published”, and that is the honest answer rather than a gap we filled. edgeX publishes no fee schedule at all — its rates are visible only inside the app. Paradex publishes a zero-fee retail tier but not its Pro schedule, so the zero describes retail accounts only. We would rather show you a venue you cannot price than quote a number we cannot source.

Every figure is restated from a page on this site that verified it against the venue's official documentation, with that page's date shown in each row. Five venues source from their own fees page; the other seven, which have no fees page yet, source from their head-to-head comparison. Fee schedules change and these dates are the age of the check, not of the rate — if a linked page and this table ever disagree, the linked page is newer, and tell us. Some linked pages contain disclosed referral links; see our methodology.
