Aster vs Extended (2026): BNB Chain vs TradFi Perps

Aster is a crypto-perps order book on BNB Chain with a live token and the largest market list in this site's join. Extended is a Starknet-settled venue with off-chain matching that lists dozens of TradFi perps beside crypto, accepts five collateral assets with haircuts, and offers leverage up to 100x on FX. Both charge makers nothing; both run weekly points programmes; only one has a token.

Verdict

Breadth of markets goes to Extended; token and points path go to Aster. Extended's 0.025% taker with documented maker rebates is competitive, and its TradFi list is something Aster does not offer. Aster's $ASTER is live and its Stage 6 docs link points to an airdrop share; Extended's docs state that points do not currently represent a token or create a present entitlement. Pick Extended for FX, indices and equities as perps; pick Aster for a documented token and points path.

Fees

Aster — Order-book maker/taker; two perp contract families with different taker rates. Base tier: 0.04% (USDT-margined) / 0.005% (USD1-margined) taker, 0% maker. Taker numeric uses the USDT-margined family; USD1-margined trades at 0.005% — pick per family when calculating. Discounts: Referral rebate up to 10% (referrer-configured split, not guaranteed); ASTER-token fee payment discount exists as a separate lever. 0% maker means maker-heavy flow pays nothing — and generates no referral commission. Schedule verified 2026-07-31 on /aster/fees/.

Extended — Order-book maker/taker with documented maker rebates. Base tier: 0.025% taker, 0% maker. Discounts: Maker rebates of 0.002%–0.013% for makers with ≥0.5% of 30-day maker volume; referred users get 10% off commissions on their first $50M. Schedule verified 2026-09-10 on /extended/fees/.

Base-tier rates answer one narrow question — what a small taker order costs on day one. Your maker/taker mix, volume tier and holding period decide the real number; the fee comparison lays all twelve venues side by side and the execution-cost tool adds live slippage on top.

Markets they share

Extended is not in this site's market join — it has no public market list the join normalises — so no shared-listing count is published here rather than an estimate. Aster lists 538 perp markets in the 2026-09-02 snapshot; see the market index.

Token and points

Both rows are restated from the points & airdrop tracker, which is re-read against each venue's docs on a 45-day cadence and never prices a point.

Where Aster wins

The token side and the points path: $ASTER is live with a published 53.5% Airdrop category in its tokenomics, and Stage 6 points accumulate toward an airdrop share per the docs. Aster's taker rate on the USD1 family is lower than Extended's, and its market list in this site's join is the largest of any venue. Its funding intervals are published per symbol.

Where Extended wins

Markets and collateral. Dozens of TradFi perps, leverage to 100x on FX and 50x on BTC and ETH, and five accepted collateral assets, all verified on this site's Hyperliquid vs Extended page. Documented maker rebates on top of the 0% maker rate. A points programme that publishes a weekly cap and a running total, which is more cadence detail than Aster's Stage 6 page gives.

What this site could not verify

Which to pick

If you want non-crypto perps, Extended is the only one of the two that lists them. If you want a live token or a points programme with a documented airdrop link, Aster. Extended's own terms say holding points creates no entitlement, so weigh its points at zero; Aster's conversion ratio is unpublished, so weigh its points as unpriced. The Aster review holds the full Aster mechanics.

FAQ

Does Extended have a token?

Not a live one, per its docs on the verification date. The points page states points do not represent a token and create no present entitlement, while leaving a future distribution open under separate terms.

Can I trade stocks or FX on Aster?

The market index shows what Aster lists in the current snapshot, including the categories Aster itself publishes for each market; this page does not claim a TradFi range for Aster.

Which is cheaper?

Both are 0% for makers. For takers, Aster's USD1 family is below Extended's 0.025% and its USDT family is above it; the fee section quotes both grids.
